Filming in the Cotswolds with 23 BMW i8's
BMW and JI Events Munich partnered up to produce an incredible Cotswolds experience for BMW i8 owners. The owners arrived from different corners of the globe for the weekend, kicking off at The Manor in Weston-on-Green. In the build up to the event, the DroneScope team came up with the concept for the event video and went about storyboarding for the clients approval. Once signed off we arranged permissions for flights along different legs of the journey from safe spots ensuring we had met the CAA dronecode.
For the weekend, we opted for the RED Raven with a set of cine lenses for the ground matched with two Inspire 2’s shooting in Cinema DNG (Raw) in the air. We’ve found this combination to work really well on this job and others. On arrival we were greeted at The Manor by the 23 i8’s set up in the front courtyard and we got to work! The guests met in the morning after breakfast with BMW’s Marcus Pluntke and were given a briefing and the scenic drive handbook. Before the guests left, the first drone unit head off to the first flying location, leaving the second unit to film from the ground. The convoy then set off for the drive through the Cotwolds for the day eventually arriving at the Bichester Heritage, the UK’s centre for motoring excellence. They were met by the second drone unit to capture their arrival. The guests parked in formation in an aircraft hanger and enjoyed a tour of the site, vintage cars and planes and then tucked into lunch whilst we filmed, before setting off again for the next leg of the rural drive. The following day, the guests went on the Blenheim Palace, birthplace of Winston Churchill, for afternoon tea and an after-hours tour, before they finished the day among Oxford’s ‘dreaming spires’ with dinner at The Quod Restaurant. And that was a wrap for us and a wrap for the BMW Pure Impulse event. Next event is scheduled for Norway next year where we’ll do it all again!
